Mathieu Urfer kicked off his music journey back in ’96 with a band called… Mayonnaise (yep, blame the Smashing Pumpkins). Not long after, he jumped into Lausanne’s indie scene with Chewy, got picked up by London’s iconic label Fierce Panda (the same crew who discovered Placebo), and dove head-first into Camden studios, UK tours, and a Japanese release—all remixed and blessed by John Agnello.

 When Chewy wrapped up, Mathieu launched the apocalyptic post-rock duo Sigurd, then switched gears to film, scoring his first feature Pause—(premiered on Piazza Grande in Locarno and partially shot in Ticino) a soundtrack that snagged the Quartz Award for Best Music in 2014 with John Wooloff and electro wizards Luft.

That chapter opened the door to his own songwriting universe and, later on, to joining Swiss cult band Honey for Petzi in 2022. Together they toured across Europe and recorded The Blue and Green Session (2024).

Now based between guitars and sunlight, Mathieu is gearing up for his debut solo album, “A Tribute to the Spoon in the Bowl of Sugar”, recorded in Los Angeles with Brian Rosemeyer and dropping in spring 2026.
