Since 2005, Gennaro Porcelli has been the guitarist for Edoardo Bennato and the leader of Gennaro Porcelli & Band.
Both critics and fans regard him as one of Italy’s top Blues talents, with a musical repertoire ranging from the Chicago style to New Orleans, from Austin to Memphis.
In 2009, he released his debut album, REVISITING…..!, a highly personal reinterpretation of classic blues tracks. The album earned glowing reviews, including praise from his friends Edoardo Bennato, Alex Britti, and Roberto Ciotti.
In March 2010, Gennaro debuted in the United States, receiving widespread acclaim and drawing attention from radio stations and media outlets. He performed at New York’s legendary B.B. King’s alongside Jon Paris (the famed bassist for Johnny Winter) and Steve Holley (drummer for Paul McCartney’s Wings), as well as at The Bitter End, New York City’s oldest and most prestigious live music venue. During his most recent U.S. tour, he played at the Harrisburg Midtown Arts Center – Stage on Herr – alongside Mark Epstein and Michael Noll, drummer for Jason Ricci.
Throughout his career, Gennaro has had the privilege of performing with several renowned artists, including Alex Britti (tour 2006/2007), Louisiana Red, Bobby Dixon (son of the legendary Willie Dixon), Nathaniel Peterson, Kenny Neal, Abi Wallestein, Carvin Jones, Ronnie Jones, Tony Esposito, Roberto Ciotti, Rudy Rotta, Beppe Grillo, Piero Pelù, Blue Stuff, Enzo Avitabile, Eugenio Bennato, Tullio De Piscopo, Morgan, Pino Scotto, Tre Allegri Ragazzi Morti, Claudio Baglioni, and many more.
Additionally, he has shared the stage with internationally acclaimed musicians such as Hot Tuna, Eric Sardinas, Corey Harris, Lil ‘Ed & The Blues Imperials, Louisiana Mojo Queen, Tolo Marton, Uli John Roth, Billy Branch, Renzo Arbore, and Robben Ford, among others.
One of the highlights of his career was a recent live performance with Texas guitarist Buddy Whittington, a longtime member of John Mayall’s Bluesbreakers.
In December 2018, Gennaro collaborated with Matthew Lee, performing at the Blue Note in Milan, and completed the sold-out “Pinocchio” tour with Edoardo Bennato. In September 2019, Gennaro performed alongside Grammy Award winner Keb’ Mo’ at the Roman Theatre in Verona. In September 2021, he played and recorded with Guy Davis, a Grammy-nominated artist in 2017.
In May 2023, he released the album Me, You and the Blues, featuring guest artists Edoardo Bennato, Guy Davis, Vince Pastano, Mario Insenga, and Daniele Sepe. In 2024, he was invited to perform with Gov’t Mule, joining the legendary Warren Haynes in a duet at the Teatro Celebrazioni in Bologna.
